Painting the Frame!!
Putting paint on the frame wasn't at all hard. The bulk of the work is
in preparing the metal for painting. First I put a coat of primer on, then black
chassis paint.
I didn't bother masking the firewall, since I was still doing primer work
and the over spray would just get sanded off.
Here is a detail picture of a the shock tower. The brown primer is a rust
preventative. I couldn't all the runs out of the cracks, so I at least hope the
rust proof primer stops the rust. Even in California some rust happens, but nothing
like what I was used to on the East Coast.
Wet paint always looks nice. It will dry to have a dull satin finish, but OEM look is the goal.
And there is the finished product. Looks pretty good. I can hardly wait
to get the parts bolted back on.
